21 Things I Learnt in 21 Years

  1. Sometimes, people suck.
  2. Sometimes, people are the best thing on the planet.
  3. Your mental health is very, very important.
  4. Everything happens for a reason.
  5. Hobbies save lives.
  6. People leave, but it’s ok. Remember, everything happens for a reason.
  7. Don’t underestimate yourself.
  8. Always be eager to learn more.
  9. Small conversations have the power to change – and save – lives.
  10. Sometimes people won’t want to listen to you purely because you’re young and apparently have no life experience.
  11. There will always be someone who doesn’t like what you have to say.
  12. Being alone doesn’t mean you have to be lonely.
  13. Sometimes it’s best not to say anything, no matter how much you want to. Choose your arguments.
  14. Your body is yours and that’s what makes it perfect. It doesn’t need to be a certain way.
  15. Having a handful of close friends is a lot better than having a massive group of bitches.
  16. Celebrate small victories.
  17. Not everything is worth holding onto. Grudges will only eat away at you.
  18. You will never be able to control everything that happens in your life. That’s ok. Equally, you won’t always understand everything that happens to you and in the world. That’s ok, too.
  19. Time is the greatest healer.
  20. Adults don’t always have it sussed. They just look like they do.
  21. If you want something, go and get it. Don’t listen to anybody who doesn’t believe in you.
