Self-Care Sundays | How I Like to Unwind

I’ve been thinking quite a lot lately about the importance of self-care. We spend a lot of time rushing to and from work and dealing with the stresses of daily life, that often we forget to take care of ourselves. So here is your reminder to take a bit of time to yourself this week!

Reading & Writing
One of my favourite ways to unwind is to read a good book. I have to say, I am quite fussy with books and if it doesn’t grip me within the first couple of chapters, I get bored. One of the books I recently really enjoyed was The Girl on the Train. It took me a while to get into and I did actually give up on it at one point, but so many people told me to stick with it so I went back and gave it another try and I’m so glad I did.  After the first hundred pages I was hooked. Of course, another way I like to relax is by writing – it’s like therapy for me – which is why I started my blog.

A Good Old Bubble Bath
You just can’t go wrong with a bubble bath.

Chick Flicks
One of my most fave films ever is Bridesmaids. Whatever mood I’m in or whatever day I’ve had, this film never fails to put a smile on my face. It’s so easy to watch and is just so my sense of humour.

Face Masks & Manicures
Sometimes we need a good pamper. I’ve never really been that bothered about face masks until I joined the blogging world and met Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty. I don’t know what it is about it that makes me love it so much, maybe the smell? But I always find that a bright green, minty face and a few funny Snapchats always give me a little giggle. And of course, super smooth skin is always a plus! I also recently discovered MUDMASKY thanks to the August Glossybox, and their Purifying Recovery Mask has become a new favourite, too.  A couple of Christmases ago I got a gel manicure set and I absolutely love it. It saves me a fortune! I have a little lamp and a few different pinks and reds, it takes quite a while to do your hands yourself because you have to do one at a time, but a gel manicure always makes me feel good.

Netflix & Chill
If I’m honest, there are some days on which even a face mask, manicure or bath seems like too much effort. On these days Netflix is my best bud. Some days and evenings were just made for getting bae over and eating a pizza whilst binge watching TV shows.
