5 Cheap Date Night Ideas

Having met my boyfriend at 16, we’ve never really had much money to go on fancy dates. We were at school with weekend jobs when we met so had very little income, and now we both work full time we’re trying to save for a house of our own. We’ve had to come up with some cheap date ideas over the years, so I thought they may be useful for others in the same position.

Netflix. And I mean actual film-watching, guys! Grab some snacks and blankets and find a good film to watch together. If you’re stuck for movies I have a few great ones here.

Cook together. Or for each other! Whichever you prefer. My boyfriend trained as a chef a couple of years ago and I can’t cook at all so for us this is a no-brainer.

One of my favourite things to do together is go to the beach at night. Sounds odd, I know, but try it. Sometimes we both finish work at 5 and take a drive to Brighton where we pick up a cheap picnic (or take one with us), and sit on the beach. Usually it’s fairly quiet at this time – unless it’s the weekend – and we pretty much have the whole beach to ourselves. We spend the evening chatting, eating and skimming stones.

Play a game together. This could be a board game, cards, on Xbox, PlayStation, whatever you fancy. Instead of sitting on your phones all night barely talking, or wondering what you can do because you’ve got no money, this is a great way of just having a bit of fun, hopefully a bit of a laugh together and it’s totally free!

Go for a walk. When the weather’s not too bad, we meet up at our local park after work, grab a coffee to go, and go for a stroll.

What are your cheap date night ideas? I’d love some new ones.

I love these ideas! Especially the late night beach date idea, that is so lovely. If I didn’t live about as far away from the beach as you can get then I would definitely being giving that one a go!

These are lovely ideas – the boyf and myself love cooking together one of us will be head chef and the other sous chef, we then build a fort and eat dinner whilst watching a film or TV series together. It’s seriously some of my favourite dates we’ve had.

I love these ideas! Me and my boyfriend are always poor too (yay for being students) and netflix dates are always the best! Play a game and go for a walk are also lovely suggestions that are cheap and easy! Love this post, so thanks! xx
